About Mrs. Brown

I am currently an Art Educator at Hemenway Elementary School where I teach students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 5. Hemenway Elementary is a Multiple Intelligence School that puts a strong focus on a well rounded education. Many teachers at the school incorporate Art into their daily lesson plans, and in turn I often try to create interdisciplinary connections between the students Art Lessons and their other classes.

As a student at Montserrat College of Art, I was a painting major with a focus in Art Education. Many of my paintings can be seen at my other website www.PaintingAmy.com. I will graduate from Salem State College in May 2008 with a Masters of Art in Teaching, and I am learning new things everyday that make me a better teacher.

I think being an Art Teacher is the best job in the world! It is very rewarding to see my students create new things and reach new heights. At the end of every class session I choose an "Art Star" which is based solely on effort and behavior. In my class I am always looking for students who are trying new things, and most importantly, trying their best.

I was recently married and I enjoyed sharing that special time with all of my students and friends at Hemenway. My favorite activities outside of school are designing websites, reading, watching the Patriots, and spending time with my husband, my friends, and my cat Calvin!
